The big day is here.

EdCo Members! Join us today at 9:00 a.m. for EdCo Coffee at Paragon Mills Elementary. In addition, certified yoga teacher Jo-Jo Totyahma will facilitate a sound meditation class in light of this week's tragedy at Covenant school. Come for both or join us at 11:00 a.m.. Last week, EdCo convened teachers from schools all over the city together to watch The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks. It is a powerful film that recharged our commitment to working for equality and justice for all of our students. Mrs. Parks' tenacity, strength, consistency, and humility are inestimable and her life is full of examples, inspiration, and motivation to keep working. Grateful to Zinn Education Project for the support and Coop Gallery for hosting. Watch this movie when you can.

Few people know the power of collective action better than teachers, and the story of Rosa Parks' courage is a perfect example of the ways in which we are better together. It takes a community of support, engagement, and cooperation to make change. It is our hope that an open screening of this story for teachers will help us see a path ahead for our continued collective action and cooperation.
